Our Team

Studio Uma's trainers strive to stay updated, informed and involved with the latest updates in fitness training, nutrition and health related issues in order to offer the most advanced and effective services to our clients.

Our team is composed of professional instructors with diverse backgrounds. In addition, each of our trainers has being personally trained by Peter Knue in the better understanding of biokinetics and Studio Uma's mission.

Peter Knue

 

 As founder of Studio Uma, Peter dedicated himself to create the most comprehensive exercise and rehabilitation programs available in the fitness industry. Bringing the art of healing and performing to use in creating not only inner and outer beauty, but as well strength and resilience to cope with today’s urban lifestyle demands. 

Peter is a former classical dancer and a R.N. for more then 24 years in Germany and USA.  He specializes in eating disorders and weight and stress management. Peter has extensive experience in neurosurgical intensive care, drug and substance abuse and psychosomatic medicine. He worked in dialysis, gastroenterology, diabetes and with the terminally ill.  In addition Peter studied theater-sciences, musicology and publizistik at the Free University of Berlin.

Peter’s extensive experience and training in so many different areas of clinical rehabilitation and prevention have helped improve or totally reestablish the health of a wide range of clients.

Jesenia Knue Munoz

Jessy is the director of Studio Uma in Greenwich CT, she is Peter Knue's wife and mother of their 3 adorable children.
She has been training, with Peter, at Studio Uma in Manhattan since 2001.  She first discovered her love for the Biokinetic method after experiencing the results on her own body, health and overall wellbeing. Jessy is a Certified Biokinetic Instructor.  She received her Fitness Instructor Certification from Marymount Manhattan College, where she received training in the areas of anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, nutrition, first aid and CPR and exercise training for older adults, pregnancy and post partum. More recently, She completed her Personal Trainer Certification and Sports Nutrition Certification from Expert Rating.

Jessy offers a dynamic & focused teaching style. By incorporating anatomy and kinetic information, she intends to inform and awaken the body-mind awareness of her clients.  Her goal is to challenge each client to safely work toward his or her goal without stress or strain.  Jessy has worked with people with a wide variety of needs. She has trained clients as young as 7 yrs old and as mature as 96 yrs old.  She has also worked with clients recovering from injury and/or dealing with chronic conditions as well as others who are just looking to stay in shape and achieve their fitness goals.

Kathy Alcoba

 
 
 
Kathy Alcoba has been with the Studio since May 2005, and with a broad background in various forms of fitness, she has found biokinetics to be one of the most beneficial, gentle, and versatile. She holds a personal training certification with NASM, and trains at the New York Health and Racquet Club as well.
She is also certified through ACE in Post-Rehabilitation for the Lumbar Spine Complex, the Shoulder Complex, and Knee Complex. She specializes in cross-training with clients, including cardiovascular, pilates and core, weight training, calisthetics, and plyometrics.  

Her background includes a Vassar Education with a BA in Psychology, concentrating mainly on Developmental and Sport Psychology, and plans on pursuing this career field. She has played sports all her life, participating in water sports, cheerleading, soccer, crew, and basketball. In her free time, she coaches soccer to young children, edits books, and sings in a cover band.

Elena Lettow

 

Elena's love for Yoga encouraged her to become a certified Yoga instructor.  Whether practicing Vinsaya(flow yoga), Ashtanga (Power) or Restorative yoga; Elena is committed to offering personalized attention to the unique needs of each client.

Elena Joined the Studio Uma Greenwich family in 2007 and is delighted to teach and practice the Biokinetic method.  

Elena is currently in her last year at nursing school. She draws from her training in biochemistry, anatomy and physiology to provide safe and effective results on both Yoga and Biokinetics.  Her goal is to help people incorporate the principles of exercise and physical activity into their daily life so they can enjoy a healthier, happier and more fulfilling lifestyle at any age.

Jurandi Silva

Jurandi Silva’s fascination with movement began very early in his life in his native Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He began his career with the Ballet Teatro Guaira of Curitiba where he was first dancer, then moved to Lisbon to join the Compania Nacional de Bailado. Jurandi is an award-winning choreographer, dancer and teacher. He later appeared in companies throughout Germany as dancer, ballet teacher and choreographer. Here in New York, Jurandi has performed with Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theater, Heights Players, La Mama Etc, and Lotus Music and Dance.

Centering his mind into the body, he learned various exercise techniques. Jurandi is a certified Gyrotonic® and Pilates instructor as well as a Personal Trainer.  He incorporates his experience as a dancer and his understanding of movement to his teaching.

Molly Lehman



Molly's love of dance led her to James Madison University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance and Kinesiology. Molly began studying and teaching Biokinetics with Peter Knue at Studio UMA NYC in 2004 and has been loving it ever since.  Her Iyengar and Vinyasa yoga practice and body work has taken her all around the world including to Massachusetts where she was certified to teach with YogaSpirit Studios and most recently guest teaching in New Zealand.  Molly has deep interest in Body Mind Centering, Alexander Technique, the Feldenkrais Method, Bartinieff Movement Fundamentals, Active Isolation Stretching and any other somatic studies she can get her hands on.

Molly is a small town girl who is thrilled to be pursuing a professional modern dance career in New York City. She is currently teaching Yoga, Biokinetics, dance and Pilates.
